Allsorts Challenge Blog called for "curly swirly"... What can I say, I LOVE swirls and curls, and have to restrain myself not to use them too much. This is a purely monochrome card, as the stamped image and the swirls themselves are beautiful without any colorful additions.

Black Bird
Double challenge entry again.
The layout sketch is from Polka Doodle challenge blog
and the theme ("sad flowers") from Corrosive Challenge blog.
As I don't have a proper ink pad for dark backgrounds, I diluted a bit of white acrylic paint to stamp the images :)

ROAR!
For Simon Says Challenge the subject was "Animals!". This week I received my The Greeting Farm's Wild Things set - which I had to get just because of that wonderful lion and the "Roar"... Isn't she just the cutest thing... I stamped her twice and layered her hair.

Sny-odotusta...
Onneksi kusti polkee huomennakin...

Springtime Swirl Shawl finished
I never guessed how long it takes to make a sideways knit border to a circular shawl... I think I spent about 2 weeks (evenings that is) in that never-ending task! But all things come to an end, and after some serious blocking on our bed, may I present:
Pattern: Springtime Swirl Shawl by Kristel Nyberg
Yarn: Titan Wool Merino (1400m/100g), consumption 87g
Needles: Addi Turbo Lace 3.75mm
Size: about 140cm

C.R.A.F.T. Challenge #1
There's a new challenge blog around called C.R.A.F.T. Challenge and their first challenge calls for "NEW" -things. Check the picture at the end of this post, they're giving out some nice prizes for the winner of this round ^_^
So, to the "NEW":
I needed to make a baby card to go with the knitted baby stuff I posted earlier. As I do not know the gender of the forthcoming individual, I tried for a neutral card, but it ended up being kinda boyish in coloring - let's keep our fingers crossed. I did my first iris folding card here, and messed up a bit - you notice how the second round is not right (or rather I made the third round wrong and then continued right). It irks me a tad bit but since the sequence of the papers is the same, and I used permanent tape, I left it as it is. No one will ever know I didn't mean it to shift, right ;)
Stamp: Flourishes from Basic Gray: EVA - Whisper Bitsy Clear Stamps, unknown butterfly rubber stamp, La*di*dah clear stamps Clear Labels, Scrappy Cat alphabets
Ink: Distress ink Vintage Photo and Peeled Paint
Paper: digital download papers

Creative Card Crew Challenge 11
Creative Card Crew Challenge 11 was set to be "Shape it". I know circle is quite boring, but I only have a compass circle cutter, so here we go! I also tried for the first time to make a proper inside :)
Stamp: Ava Sitting from InStyle (digital), Swings from InStyle, flourish from Basic Gray: EVA - Whisper Bitsy Clear Stamps
Ink: Distress ink Vintage Photo
Coloring: Aquarelle pens
Other: Petaloo Florra Doodles foam flowers, chipboard element
Paper: Paperstock from a local dime-store
Yes, I know it is constructed from the same elements as my previous CCC-entry - apologies - but I have only so many supplies.

Midnight Madness Sketch Challenge #2 + InStyle Stamps' Wednesday Challenge
Recipe
Papers: cream colored card stock, digital downloads
Image: InStyle digistamp Jax, La*di*dah clear stamps Clear Labels (received from Roni)
Ink: printer ink for image, Distress Faded Jeans, Peeled Paint
Coloring: Aquarelle pens, Marvy LePlume II NO. 96 jungle green
I bought this lovely boy - but dang was it difficult to make a "manly" card! The "print" on his shirt is just a doodle I made to resemble a dragon. I masked the background with Distress inks and a piece of paper ripped from a spiral paperpad. Result was quite cool :) This cool boy fits to both MMSC#2 and InStyle Stamps' Wednesday Challenge, latter being "Birthday".

Knitterly stuff / Vaihteeksi neulontaa
I haven't totally gone over to card making, even though it might seem so... I've been knitting the Springtime Swirl Shawl what feels like for a year now - I'm on the final clue, the edging. It is really taking ages to knit a sideways edge to a circular shawl >_> Here's a little peek on what the finished edge will look like:
Pattern: Springtime Swirl Shawl by Kristel Nyberg (rav-link)
Yarn: Titan Wool Merino
Needles: 3.75mm Addi Turbo Lace
Note that I have changed the clue: I am knitting every second round, not purling like it should be. I like the garter stitch better than stockinette.
Some baby stuff for a friend in Finland - as she did not reveal any gender, it's boring white :) As I don't have a new born to borrow, here's my plushies doing a fashion show! Sorry about the bumps under the hat, Mr. Redbones has horns ;)
Yarn: Grignasco Bambi Merino Extrafine, wonderful machine washable yarn with tight twist
Vanhat koulukaverit lisääntyvät hälyyttävää tahtia, tässä muutama vauvaneule Suomeen. "Laitetaanko vaaleansinistä vai -punaista?" kysymykseen vastaus oli "Laita valkoista." Niin että tylsän valkoisena sitten vaan ;)

Happiness / Kortteilua
This one I made for my secret knitting pal - with the lovely Willow from Whiff of Joy -stamps. She is colored with color pencils and Marvy Le Plume -pens, papers are from digital download kits.
Tämän kortin tein SNY:lleni Raijalle paljastuspakettiin - leimakuva on ihana Willow Whiff of Joy - kaupasta.

SNY-paljastus / Secrets revealed
Toimin salaisena neuleystävänä Raijalle, ja koska paljastuspaketti löysi tiensä jo perille, voin vihdoin näyttää muutaman salaisen työn :)
Trachtentuch A -huivi Dropsin Alpacasta, yksi kerä kutakin väriä, puikot 4.5mm
Ja Gentleman's Sock in Railway Stitch OnLine Supersockesta 2 ja 2.5 mm puikoilla.
I knit both of these for my Finnish secret knitting pal, the above being Erich Engeln's Trachtentuch A from Drops Alpaca and below Gentleman's Sock in Railway Stitch by Nancy Bush from OnLine Supersocke.

Time for miracles is not over...
...because I *won* in a blog candy! Roni from Ink Stains has such wonderful instructional posts and she is on my regular reading list. A while back she hosted a daily candy and here's what I got today in the mail:
So much yummie stuff, I'm speechless! Some vintage papers - I love that page from an old dictionary btw - vintage tags, labels, sequins, acrylic stamps (yay!), HUGE flower, lovely album and absolutely gorgeous selfmade card! Thank you Roni, I feel so pampered :)

Vappu-Helsinki (only in Finnish)
Lauantaina ehdin hiukan kiertää omilla asioillani, kun jätin naisväen koluamaan Espan putiikkeja. Tärkein pyhiinvaelluskohde oli tietysti Menita, josta tarttui matkaan lankaa:
Vanhan roosan väristä Kotiväkeä 3 kerää (aiemmin valittelin Novitan värikarttoja ja silloin totesin, että tuo olisi ehkä se ainoa kiva väri - niin olikin :), 3 kerää ale-bambua tiskirätteihin (keskellä), 2 kerää Wetterhoffin Silviaa ihanan hopeanharmaana ja yksi kerä Grignascon Bambi-vauvamerinoa.
Kotiväestä tulee ehkä jonkinmoinen kesätoppi, bambut menevät tiskirätteihin, Silviasta tulee huivi ja merinovilla on ystävän tulevan vauvan tamineisiin. Toim.huom. kaikille langoille on siis jo käyttö suunniteltuna ;)
Ikävin tuliainen olikin sitten karmea flunssa, joka iski sunnuntaina. Lieneekö tarttunut sikakännisiltä vapunjuhlijoilta sikaflunssa? Nenä ainakin punertaa kuin kärsä...
