Simon Says Let's stamp with Tim!

Simon Says Challenge this week was inspired by Tim Holtz.

Here's my take, and of this I am much happier than the previous post :) All coloring is made with Distress inks on cream colored card stock.

Midnight Madness Sketch Challenge #4

MMSC just keeps getting better, check out their latest prize of money!

Anyway, here's my take on the weekly challenge. I'm not 100% satisfied - I think I should have put one more layer of patterned paper under everything, it looks a bit bland like this. Oh well, too late now!

I made the frame from Fimo polyclay and stamped it over with Distress ink Vintage Photo before baking it - then after baking I coated it with glossy varnish. The flowers also have some Vintage Photo on them + glossy varnish. The photo in the frame is a vintage piece printed from the computer. The background is made with Distress inks, Fired Brick and Vintage Photo, over a cream colored card, sprinkled with water and stamped over with water moistened acrylic stamp.

2 Sketches 4 You Ultimate Card Showdown #2

2 Sketches 4 You Ultimate Card Showdown #2, week 1

My second card is vintage inspired, and I really like how it turned out! The image is vintage photo printed from the computer, metal brads are again from Denise and the purple band is recycled gift wrapping ribbon. I continued the sketch inside the card too.

Stamp: Scrappy Cat flourishes
Ink: Distress ink Vintage Photo, VersaColor Burgundy
Coloring: Marvy Le Plume II no. 64 Plum
Other: Recycled gift ribbon, metal brads, pattern scissors
Paper: 12x12 scrapbooking paperstock from a local dollar-store, vanilla colored card stock

2 Sketches 4 You Ultimate Card Showdown #1, week 1

I made two cards for this challenge, and here's the first.

This is a very plain card material wise - I used no fancy papers. The purple paper is origami paper, and white inlay is plain watercolor paper. I sponged the edges and the patterned strip with purple acrylic paint - oh and can you notice I picked up a pair of pattern scissors? The two layers I stitched together by hand, bookbinding type thing. I am planning to write to the inlay, so that's why it is mostly just plain white. The brads I used were from Denise's blog candy lot and the sentiment means "For a friend" in Finnish, handwritten.

Swirly

Allsorts Challenge Blog called for "curly swirly"... What can I say, I LOVE swirls and curls, and have to restrain myself not to use them too much. This is a purely monochrome card, as the stamped image and the swirls themselves are beautiful without any colorful additions.

Black Bird

Double challenge entry again.

The layout sketch is from Polka Doodle challenge blog

and the theme ("sad flowers") from Corrosive Challenge blog.

As I don't have a proper ink pad for dark backgrounds, I diluted a bit of white acrylic paint to stamp the images :)

ROAR!

For Simon Says Challenge the subject was "Animals!". This week I received my The Greeting Farm's Wild Things set - which I had to get just because of that wonderful lion and the "Roar"... Isn't she just the cutest thing... I stamped her twice and layered her hair.

C.R.A.F.T. Challenge #1

There's a new challenge blog around called C.R.A.F.T. Challenge and their first challenge calls for "NEW" -things. Check the picture at the end of this post, they're giving out some nice prizes for the winner of this round ^_^

So, to the "NEW":

I needed to make a baby card to go with the knitted baby stuff I posted earlier. As I do not know the gender of the forthcoming individual, I tried for a neutral card, but it ended up being kinda boyish in coloring - let's keep our fingers crossed. I did my first iris folding card here, and messed up a bit - you notice how the second round is not right (or rather I made the third round wrong and then continued right). It irks me a tad bit but since the sequence of the papers is the same, and I used permanent tape, I left it as it is. No one will ever know I didn't mean it to shift, right ;)

Stamp: Flourishes from Basic Gray: EVA - Whisper Bitsy Clear Stamps, unknown butterfly rubber stamp, La*di*dah clear stamps Clear Labels, Scrappy Cat alphabets
Ink: Distress ink Vintage Photo and Peeled Paint
